Fashion, Glamour, Boudoir
I am so excited to FINALLY be offering boudoir sessions. I have always wanted to do them but they take some planning and time and wanted to do it right from the beginning.
My goal is to not only offer “boudoir” pictures, but also extend that to fashion and glamour type shots. Back when I was in photography school, we took a class called “fashion, glamour, boudoir” which is inspiration for shoots like this. I feel women should not only take these pictures for that special someone in their lives but also take them for themselves. It will be something you can look back on and be proud. I have actually had my own boudoir pictures taken before, and a lot of what I did was not typical boudoir type shots wearing lingerie. I wanted to mix it up and have fun with it. My experience being in front of the camera for this type of session I feel gave me a unique perspective. I want you to have fun and it be an experience and pictures you can enjoy and remember forever! Let me help you make your 2015 Valentines a memorable one.
I totally understand there is A LOT of planning that goes into having your boudoir pictures taken. I brought literally a suitcase of stuff to my shoot. So I am here to give as many tips and suggestions that I can to help you beautiful ladies get the most out of your shoot and try my best to put you at ease.
Here are my tips to help you…
1) One of the first things I want to tell you is that, I believe you can do a shoot like this without having to buy any clothing. Go through your closet and pick out stuff you know you feel really good in. Have a pair of jeans that fit you perfect? Wear those jeans with a sexy bra or no bra at all. I can strategically pose you where what’s not supposed to show, won’t show. The key to this is, what I like to call, “breaking up outfits”. Pick out outfits you love on yourself, and only wear part of it. Have a cute sweatshirt or sweater you love? Wear that with cute undies, a pair of heels and a pony tail. Are you starting to get it?
2) Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize. You will typically be wearing less in these pictures than in your normal day, so pick out lots of jewelery, high heels, hats, scarves, gloves. Have fun with it! This is the time to play dress up!
3) Be yourself. Bring things that are you! The reason I really ended up booking to have my boudoir pictures taken was because I had lost 50 pounds, I was in my early thirties and I knew, this was the time to do it. I was fit and young and wanted to document that. I am not by any means saying you need to be in your early thirties and have had lost 50 pounds to do them, my point was for one of my pictures, I wore cute yoga pants and a sports bra. I lost the weight by eating right and working out and this was my favorite work out clothing. I worked hard losing that weight and I was really proud. I wanted my pictures to mean something. So think about your interests and what you want to portray. Of course you can bring various types of lingerie and look bangin’! But your actual clothing can be just as sexy!
4) Think about what you love about yourself. Love your legs? Have gorgeous thick long hair? Think about those things so I know what you want to highlight and maybe what we shouldn’t focus on. I love my legs but hate my stomach and I told my photographer that. I am also not busty, I mean at all! So most of my outfits highlighted my legs and not my bust and stomach. Be sure to let me know what you want to focus on and what you don’t.
5) To get your hair and make up done or to not get your hair and make up done, that is the question. I think either way is fine, just don’t let it be so over done that you don’t look like you. I did my own hair and make up and I was very happy with the way they turned out. I did however wear some $6 fake eye lashes from Walgreens. If you do choose to get your hair and make up professionally done, I recommend Raw Elements Salon. Ask for Delaney for hair and Bayleigh for make-up.
6) Get a manicure and pedicure a day or two before the shoot.
7) Get a good night’s sleep!
The day of…
The day of your shoot is stressful, I totally get it. But I want you to have fun with this. Most girls will only do this once, Enjoy it! I am here to show you how to pose and make you feel as comfortable as possible. Its an empowering experience, trust me, I know! I want to minimize as much stress as I can by helping you be prepared. Here are some tips for the day of….
- You will most likely be showing a lot more skin than you normally would. So I recommend at the end of your shower to exfoliate all over of with a body scrub. Bath and Body Works has a great one that is my favorite and is what I used the day of my pictures. Click here to see what I used. Turn the shower off, scrub really good all over with the scrub. Then turn the shower back on and rinse off. Your skin will feel like butta!
- If you are going to do your own make up, go a little heavier than normal.
- Moisturize all over. Again, you will be showing lots of skin. Make sure it looks healthy and moisturized. Click here to see my favorite lotion. This lotion gives a subtle touch of sheen to your skin which I think is great for the chest a clavicle area.
- Pack a rolling suit case of your stuff. You will most likely want to bring a lot of outfit options, shoes and accessorizes. Shoes take up a lot of room and packing a suit case you can roll is the easiest way so you’re not carrying five different bags.
- Bring more outfits than you will think you need. That way, if something breaks or tears or just isn’t fitting right, we can try something else.
